Valentine's day..... well I don't have much historical knowledge about it but I know that it's the day people flaunt their love. A day of celebration of love, but can love be celebrated in just one day? What happened to the forever-ever-after-fairytale like love?

Is it meant for just a poet's dream? Nowadays with growing trend of materialism sweeping the young minds, valentine's day is reduced to merely a day of gift swapping, the costlier the gifts... the more loved you are! Thankfully, the tentacles of this disease called 'materialiosis' hasn't reached our Manipur yet. What I wanna make a point out here is that, we must preserve the innocence of young love. love cannot be expressed by giving expensive diamond rings.

Love is all about the simple little things that couples do. Love is like having an ice cream on a scorching summer day when you're left with just 5 rupees in your pocket! Love is something universal, it's not restricted to a particular genre. It's not necessary that love means only 'girl and boy' kind of candy floss love. love can be love for your mother, love for your friends, love for your country, love for your work, love for your pet dog.... just about anything!!!

The thing is, I just don't understand why the VHPs, Shiv Sainiks, Bajrang Dal and all are so bugged up by the concept of Valentine's day? what the hell do they mean by "aping western culture" by celebrating Valentine's day? didn't they fall in love when they were young? is falling in love "aping of western culture"? That's the amount of absurdity that exists in this hypocritic democracy called India. Smashing down shops, burning Valentine's day cards, the so-called "moral-policing" which rather amounts to harassment of unsuspecting lovers who just want to enjoy some romantic bliss..... and you call India a free country? When you're not even free to love?

You may call this article a biased one... as it comes straight from the heart of a 16 year old girl, but I speak for those people who are in love. And for all those VHP, Shiv Sainiks, Bajrang Dal... and whatever... they should start smashing gift shops and burn Valentine's day cards everyday, because for true love, everyday is a Valentine's Day!

yes love can't be celebrated in just 1 day but it starts... n' 4ever after fairy tales are just fairy tales n' it don't mean just 4 poets.. it is also 4 you in fact its 4 everyone.
come on be REAL.... you said valentine's is reduced to just a mere day of gift. well.. it is not, there are planty pf people who thinks like you do, serious..  you're using only one eye, try using both i'm sure it will work miracles...!!! And do you really think you're so called MATTERIALIOSIS HAVEN'T REACH mANIpUR YET...??!! THINK AGAIN...!! MATE LOVE CAN ALSO BE EXPRESS BY GIVIN dIAMOND RINGS... what...??????????? you mean those lovers who gives diamond rings to their partner are not real lovers....???!!!!!!!!

Love is not about only the simple things marked my words. It is not just havin an ice cream, it is also havin an expensive dinner at a seven star hotel. To have an ice creame or a seven star dinner.. you just leave it to FATE okay. However i like the idea of varities of love. It seems people are forgettin this concept..!! Yea they are forgettin that they can also send cards to their morther or.. parents. And hey.... don't mention those names... WOW!! APING WESTERN CULTURE you know there are lots of FNATIC or LUNATIC.. i don't know..!! and don't reach the political line you really don't want the reaction...lol
Take positive.. they aren't burnin down LOVE.. its like they just don't like the name. And who will like  it.. i mean you don't wanna be a COPY CAT right..??! why don't we call it as "PYAAR KA DIN" lolx... what say...???!!

It's indeed true that today Valentine's day is no more a mere Valentine's day for two hearts expressing their valuable love beats. It is rather marked by Clandestine meetings and expensive meterialistic gift items. I agree that the world is changing.. but we should not just follow the wind of change without ever considering  its receprocal.

In short whaever lets change for the better, not just for fashion or for whatever...

I THINK MANY PEOPLE TEND MAYBE TO MISUNDERSTAND THE REAL MEANING OF VALENTINE. THIS JUST A DAY OF LOVERS REFLESH NOT THE DAY LOVERS MAKE LOVE. U KNOW LOVE CANNOT BE MADE ON ONE DAY! ITS A DAY THAT WAS MEANT FOR THE EXCHANGE OF GIFTS FOR THOSE WHO DO IT RERALY & FOR INTERTAINMENT IF NOT TO ENJOY TOGETHER IN A DIFFERENT STYLE>>>>>>>>>> AHA!! THATS MY OPINION ON THIS REDFUL DAY.

February 14 is Valentine's Day. Although it is celebrated as a lovers' holiday today, with the giving of candy, flowers, or other gifts between couples in love, it originated in 5th Century Rome as a tribute to St. Valentine, a Catholic bishop.February 14 is Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day brings some people joy, and others depressing thoughts. Sure, it's a time for loving others around you, but it makes people who don't have someone to share this precious day with depressed.

Different people have different opinion about Valentine's Day. But one thing I strongly feel about it is that it is being materialized. It's supposed to be about telling your love that you love them, not buying dumb candy.

You yourself decide, and judge it!
